Athens vs. "The Athens of the South"

For those that weren't aware, Andy and I just got back from a whirlwind of travel. We spent a week in Greece at the end of April, followed immediately by a two week trip to the US. A little hectic, but not enough to scare us away! We're leaving for Paris tonight for our anniversary weekend.

Anyway, one of the more interesting comparisons between Europe and the US was visiting the "real" Parthenon in Athens, and then seeing Nashville's Parthenon two weeks later. Basically, Nashville (the Athens of the South) built a 1:1 replica of the Parthenon for the World's Fair back in the 20's and decided to make it a permanent fixture of the city. I've included a side-by-side comparison for y'all below. Kind of cool. Besides being in better shape, the Nashville Parthenon is also air-conditioned inside, has an art gallery, and a giant statue of Athena.

I still like the original better. :)

One of these things is not like the other...
